Antigonish Condominiums Inc. (ACI) was incorporated in 2001 and principally constructs condominiums in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, having built 20 condominium units.  The business has also been involved in Spec House building (i.e. house resale).

 

The business is controlled by the President, Mr. Mark Sears, Chartered Accountant.  Mark has been involved in real estate construction projects since the early 1990’s. The head office is located at 320 Main Street, Suite 2B, Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  As the project manager and president, he negotiates all details of the condo units, is very active in the construction and design phases, and deals with the sales and marketing.  Mark has over 14 years experience in construction projects.


Condominium living is a growing trend in Canada and Nova Scotia.  There are many advantages to condominium living which this report addresses. 

 

The concept of condominium living is home ownership.  The property is actually owned and not rented.  This allows the opportunity to build equity and gain from appreciation in real estate values and future resale.  Further, in many cases the monthly occupancy costs can be lower than a rental property and you live in an exceptionally nice space.

 

Four buildings are now complete and all condo units except three were sold within one week of project completion.   The architectural sketch of the next 2 buildings are shown on this site.  The floor plan can also be viewed on this site.  The buildings will be constructed in the summer and fall of 2010.  ACI is now pre-selling these 2010 condos. Buy early with a small deposit and customize many aspects of your home for little or no extra cost.


The 2010 units have a “footprint” of  1,716 to 1,896 sq. feet, depending on the unit purchased, plus a large private deck for enjoyment of the outdoors.

 

All units are well appointed with standard hardwood flooring in many units, nice wide window and door trim and raised panel interior doors, all giving an elegant look to the inside.  Certain rooms have crown mouldings where the ceiling meets the wall.  Kitchens are an important part of any home, so ACI allows a no cost choice on many different kitchen styles.  At the pre-construction stage, a customer can choose from many types of hardwood cabinets, numerous hardware style and countertops, again, all at no extra cost. If you have a favourite colour or colours, ACI will accommodate most of your choices (not extra cost) if purchased before completion of the unit (i.e. pre-finished construction purchase).  There are other options available at the pre-finished completion purchase stage.  This is a feature of our product which gives the customer a bit of a customized product.


ACI prides itself on a building with a strong “curbside appeal” which also enhances the condo owners’ sense of pride in their home and helps maximize future resale value.

The carpentry contractor on the project is Matthew Mattie Construction Limited.  Mr. Mattie has over 25 years experience in the trade and has done many projects in the local area.  Examples of his local work include the following buildings:

Also, Energy Builders Incorporated will be involved in the project for assistance in implementing specific construction detail to maximize energy efficiency in the new units.

       

Many other projects can be referenced as requested.  A buyer should be very careful to not overlook who the builder is and their reputation.

 

All other contractors are local and have strong reputations and years of experience, including Jim Gillis Plumbing and Heating Ltd., and Kevin DeCoste of DeCoste Electrical & Ventilation Ltd.

 

We feel our current location is excellent.  It has a view, is a quiet area which is close to downtown and in a newer neighborhood with some very beautiful homes close by.  All town services are nearby.  The backyard and the large back deck will be nothing but a source of pleasure and relaxation.
